How to Plan Outdoor Furniture for Your Terrace
A practical guide to measuring your terrace, choosing the right arrangement and comparing complete furniture configurations.

A terrace works best when the furniture follows the way you want to use it. Before choosing a sofa or dining set, decide what should happen there: a quiet morning coffee, relaxed family meals, evening conversations or a mix of these. That decision makes the rest of the selection more focused.
The practical starting point is simple: measure the usable space, choose the main activity, check exposure to sun and rain, and compare complete furniture configurations rather than frame prices alone.
1. Choose the main purpose of the terrace
For conversation, start with the seats you need and the table that serves them. For regular outdoor meals, begin with a dining arrangement. If the space is mainly for reading or resting, a comfortable lounge chair, sunlounger or daybed may be more useful than a large sofa.
A small terrace does not need to accommodate every activity. One arrangement that works comfortably is often a better starting point than several pieces competing for the same space. On a larger terrace, separate dining and lounging areas can help organise the layout.
2. Measure the space you can actually furnish
Record the terrace dimensions, then mark doors, door swings, steps, fixed planters and any features that interrupt the usable floor area. Keep the route from the entrance clear and allow space to move around occupied seats and pull dining chairs away from the table.
Mark the footprint of your shortlisted pieces on the floor with removable tape. Use the dimensions of the actual product, including its depth, rather than judging its size from a photograph. Also check the delivery route, including lifts, stairs and doorways, before confirming an order.

3. Consider sun, rain and everyday care
Notice which parts of the terrace receive direct sun, which are sheltered, and where furniture will be exposed to rain. Think about where removable cushions will be kept when they are not in use and how easily the area can be cleaned.
Ask about the specific frame, weave, cushion fabric and tabletop offered on each product. Material names alone do not establish maintenance requirements or warranty coverage. Read the care instructions for the configuration you choose instead of assuming that all outdoor furniture needs the same treatment.
4. Compare a complete setting, not just individual pieces
Once the layout is clear, choose pieces that work together in scale and purpose. A generous lounge seat needs an appropriately placed table; a dining table needs chairs that suit both its dimensions and your seating plan. Avoid adding side tables, loungers or accessories until the main arrangement works.
Loom Crafts organises its collections into five Outdoor Worlds: Mediterranean Courtyard, Contemporary Living, Tropical Retreat, Coastal Escape and Royal Courtyard. These provide a useful way to explore coordinated designs while keeping the final selection specific to your own space.

5. Check what the displayed price includes
For Loom Crafts furniture, displayed prices generally refer to the frame unless stated otherwise. Cushions and tabletops are added separately where available. Umbrella prices include the base. GST and freight are extra at actuals.
Open the individual product page, select the available frame option, and add the cushions or tabletop you need. Compare the resulting configuration total. Not every product offers every frame or fabric option, so use the choices shown for that particular piece.
6. Prepare a clear enquiry
Share your terrace measurements, location, photographs and shortlisted products with the Loom Crafts team. Include how many people you want to seat and whether the area is covered or exposed. This gives the team useful context for discussing the arrangement and confirming specifications, finishes, freight and delivery details.
You can configure products on the website, add selections to your wishlist and send them together as an enquiry. Final order details are confirmed with the team; the website is designed for discovery, configuration and enquiries.
